MEMBERSHIP

WHY MEMBERSHIP?

• • It provides a spiritual family to support and encourage you in your walk with Christ (Gal 6:1-2, Heb10:24-35)

• • It gives you a place to discover and use your gifts in ministry (1Cor 12:4-27)

• • It places you under spiritual protection of Godly leaders (Heb 13:17, Acts 20:28-29)

• • It provides accountability needed to grow (Eph 5:21)

• • It enables you to contribute in positively steering the Church’s direction and in achieving its mission.

  • It also identifies the individual to be a genuine believer (Eph 2:19, Rom 12:5)

 

MEMBERSHIP PROCEDURES

 

A person seeking membership should be:

1. A committed believer of the Lord Jesus Christ

2. In regular attendance at the Britwell Baptist church for at least 1 year

3. Need to be baptised by immersion or be willing to do so

4. Above 18 years of age

MEMBERSHIP COVENANT

Having received Christ as my Lord and Saviour, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the Britwell Baptist Church family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:

I will protect the unity of my church (Rom 14: 19)

• By acting in love towards other members ( I Pet 1: 22)

• By refusing to gossip (Eph 4: 29)

• By following the leaders (Heb 13 : 17)

I will share the responsibility of my church  

• By praying for its growth (I Thess 1: 1,2)

• By inviting the unchurched to attend (Luke 14 : 23)

• By warmly welcoming those who visit ( Rom 15: 7)

I will serve the ministry of my church

• By discovering my gifts and talents (I Pet 4: 10)

• By being equipped by my pastor to serve (Eph 4: 11-12)

• By developing a servant’s heart (Phil 2: 3-4, 7)

I will support the testimony of my church (Heb 10: 25)

• By attending faithfully (Phil 1: 27)

• By living a godly life (I Cor 16: 2)

• By giving regularly (Lev 27: 30)
